Tire manufacturing presents unique challenges to a lubricant due to the environment within the manufacturing facility. The two most outstanding issues being faced are dust and heat. With the different stages involving grinding of the tires and the heat/steam of the vulcanization process, most lubricants quickly fail.
An additional challenge for a lubricant in this industry is for it to be compatible with the elastomer being used. Many lubricants, if they come in contact with the elastomer will cause a reaction and cause a blemish on the tire. This causes scrap and unwanted waste.
